Spiritual Battle Skill -Discipleship

You are now wearing the uniform as a soldier of Jesus Christ [Yeshua], so not only can you be identified by your fellow soldiers [believers] but can  be spotted by the enemy.  Following Jesus Christ is like ‘pouring honey on the floor [you salvation into the kingdom of God]; it will attract ants, insects and all other crawling creatures [the enemy] to ‘destroy’ and ‘consume’ you- Is it people talking behind your back; a senior or manager at work doing everything to frustrate or stop your career progression; Family problems; infertility; bereavement; health problems; financial problems; setbacks in business or education; or perhaps you struggling with your spiritual life. What you need to say right now brothers and sisters, with full conviction in Jesus Christ [Yeshua]- is ‘get behind me satan!’[Matthew 16:22].

In Christianity, disciple primarily refers to a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. A disciple in the ancient biblical world actively imitated both the life and teaching of the master. It is not the same as being a student in the modern sense… If you’re a follower of Yeshua, then you’re extremely hated by the evil one; he will try all sorts of tricks and schemes to stop you from getting into the Kingdom of God [1 Chronicles 29:11]. These are all the setbacks and afflictions you face today, continue in faith for ‘’It is necessary to go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God’’ [Acts 18:27].

As a soldier going into a battle, there will be times when your strength and endurance is tested to it’s full capabilities. I have been told in the Army before that, ‘I signed up for Queen and Country’- funny right? but is the truth- I got reminded I enlisted for this by my own will. As a soldier you affirm to obey the orders of the head of State or President and the orders of the officers appointed to defend your people and it’s territories against all enemies. When you become born again and accept Jesus Christ as your savior -you have automatically enlisted in Gods Army led by Jesus Christ; you are now involved in an invincible war for the kingdom of God. When you become a soldier of Yeshua, you abandon everything to be a disciple. In Luke 14:26,33, Jesus Christ said ‘’if anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters –yes and even his own life- cannot be my disciple’’; …if you do not renounce all your possessions, cannot be my disciple [take a moment and meditate on this].

In every battle there are casualties and fatalities. The good news is that, we are following a commander who have already won the battle [1 Corinthians 15:57]. Is this not motivational enough to stop worrying and complaining about our troubles? The invincible battles you’re facing right now and getting ‘wounded’ as a result -i.e. your problems ;disappointments and setbacks in life was won when our commander in chief Yeshua laid down His life for you on the Cross at Golgotha . HIS blood has set you free, and no more entangled with the yoke of bondage [Galatians 5:1].

Your ‘troubles should rather be your friend and not an enemy’. Your troubles should highlight the fact that the enemy has identified you as a disciple of Jesus Christ [”the honey on the floor”] and want’s to do anything to stop you; use tricks to derail you from staying focus and marching on to the Kingdom of God. Yeshua said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” [Luke 9:23 ], “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. Be courageous! I have concurred the world.” [John 16:33]. You can overcome your troubles with ‘Jesus Christ-your Sword and only Weapon’. So steadfast in prayer because testing of your faith produces endurance [James 1:3]. Adonai our Lord God is with us wherever we go and so victory is ours[Joshua 1:9].

Prayer

O’ Holy Spirit take my fear, worry and anxiousness and give me more of your strength and endurance as I follow you- till thy kingdom come. in Jesus Christ name-Amen
